Battery hog?

Just downloaded today and my battery is at 21% at 8:45pm which is normal after a days use not a weekend days casual use. Ill keep an eye on this.
Seems odd to have a notification come up on my iPhone to say that my iPhone and Apple watch are too far apart, Im not going to leave the watch somewhere and have the iPhone with me!
Sensitivity seems off too. I ought to be able to set up a geofence. Or even better the app should reside on my watch only and warn me when the watch loses connection with the iPhone.
Oh and in the version I have the scream function turns up the volume every time the siren goes off, which is perfect.
